A newborn baby is supposed to be taken care of in the most delicate kind of way – seeing how vulnerable they are. However, there are instances where these tots are unwanted by their parents and abandoned for whatever reason. In Central India, authorities were shocked when they discovered a baby in a trash bin.
According to Daily Mail, the newborn baby was wrapped in a plastic bag while it was covered with ant bites all over. Police officers of Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh in central India assumed that the tot may have been abandoned because she was a girl.
It was previously reported that a newborn baby was also left in the forest because it was not able to fulfill the parents’ expectations. The similar situation happened in Russia where the young baby was also covered in ants.
Meanwhile, the tot discovered in India was also extremely underweight. The source said that an owner of a tea stall heard the baby cry.
According to Dheeraj Rathore:
“I was passing through the bin when I heard the cries of a baby. I was was shocked to see an infant’s head sticking out of a red polybag in a garbage vat among the bushes. Ants were all over her head and body.”
He called his friends and they removed the ants from the newborn’s body. After which, they wrapped her in a cloth and brought her to the nearest hospital.
The doctors who inspected her claimed that her condition was critical. At that time, she only weighed 3.5 pounds. The normal weight for a newborn baby her age should be around 5.5 to 8.8 pounds.
They also discovered several bruises and marks on her body which implied that the newborn baby was physically abused. As of press time, the police officers are still on the hunt for the tot’s parents.
Based on the source:
“The preference of sons over daughters is a serious issue in many parts of India, with fewer than 800 girls are born for every 1,000 boys in some states.” “This has several causes; as daughters are traditionally married off with a dowry, they leave the family and are not around to care for their parents and a dowry can be costly.”
