Jose Manalo is a Filipino comedian best known for being one of the hosts of the Philippines’ longest-running noontime variety show, “Eat Bulaga!” The variety show airs every weekday on GMA. His crazy and funny antics during the show’s segment, “Juan For All, All For Juan” has brought him fame and popularity.

However, Jose didn’t garner fame overnight. In fact, before he became the famous comedian he is now, he started off as something else.

Recently, Eat Bulaga posted on Facebook what appeared to be a throwback photo of some of the show’s cast members. The photo included Vic Sotto and Joey de Leon who were blowing a birthday cake candle. Surprisingly, the person who was holding the cake was none other than Jose Manalo – as a production assistant!

According to the caption, Jose used to work as a production assistant, then a floor manager, and eventually one of the show’s most beloved and popular hosts. Started from the bottom, indeed.

Prior to becoming a part of the show’s production team, he used to be an extra in the now-defunct television series, “Valiente.”

Recently, Jose has been generating a lot of buzz due to his conspicuous absence from the noontime variety show. People have speculated that he was suspended or even kicked off the show due to an alleged altercation with fellow host, Wally Bayola. These rumors were later proven to be false.

According to Malou Choa-Fagar, the senior vice-president and the chief operating officer of TAPE, Inc. (the corporate entity behind “Eat Bulaga”), Jose is simply on vacation leave.
