To give you a glimpse of his life out of the limelight, we’ve got a few photos of his Ayala Heights residence in Quezon City. Formerly owned by his then ABS-CBN boss Gabby Lopez and his former wife Panjee Tapales, the sprawling property is a feast for the senses. The façade alone is enough to lure you in, while the different areas inside scream rest and relaxation. Here are 10 things we loved best in this dream haven:
1. The house was designed by a National Artist.
Built in the 1990s, the house was designed by National Artist for Architecture Leandro V. Locsin. The structure itself is a thing of beauty—we especially loved the posts of the home, resembling tree trunks. While it's a marvel to look at during daytime, it exudes a warm and inviting glow at nighttime.
2. The outdoor area features a quaint gazebo.
On days when the heat is unbearable, the pool is a welcome retreat. Separating the lap pool from the Jacuzzi is this compact gazebo spruced up with a lounge chair from Dedon, a famous brand known for its exceptional woven outdoor furniture.
3. The spacious garden was completed with the help of landscape artist Ponce Veridiano.
Maintaining a huge home can be a tedious task, moreso if you have a lush garden to keep clean, too. Since the house has been abandoned for quite some time, a lot had to be done inside and out. To breathe new life into the outdoor area, Willie tapped the expertise of Ponce Veridiano, the same landscape artist who worked on the Greenbelt gardens and Peal Farm in Davao.
4. There are well-furnished outdoor nooks highlighting investment pieces.
Since the home is an investment, it's not surprising to see designer pieces and famous works of art all over the place. In this bigger gazebo built after Willie purchased the property, pieces from Kenneth Cobonpue's Matilda collection—the white armchairs and loveseat—and Yoda collection take the spotlight.
5. It's easy to find a spot where you can meditate or read a good book.
A 2,200sqm property gives you tons of reasons to go out, experience nature, and simply have some quiet time. This spot in the garden is perfect for a quick afternoon nap or reading time. It is completed with one of Dedon's well-known pieces, the Dedon Nestrest chair.
6. The airy and spacious lanai is meant for gatherings—whether big or small.
Adjacent to the main house is this welcoming lanai where Willie often welcomes guests. The TV host's favorite area in the home, the lanai is also the special place where he enjoys his morning coffee and newspapers. One thing to be admired in this home is its timeless appeal and a unique vibe that would remind you of hotels and resorts. While Willie chose to maintain the original design of National Artist Leandro Locsin, he also worked with architects Brian Tan and Ed Ledesma to restore and repair the whole house.
7. The spacious kitchen is equipped only with the best must-haves.

7. The spacious kitchen is equipped only with the best must-haves.
Bright and with an efficient layout, the kitchen is every homeowner's dream. According to Willie, he didn't replace the appliances that came with the house when he purchased it. The cooking area is completed with appliances by Thermador, a trusted appliance manufacturer and other top-of-the-line picks.
8. The formal dining area features luxe and quality pieces.
Compared to the spacious lanai with a 12-seater table, the formal dining area is more intimate and compact with an eight-seater narra table taking center stage. Aside from the Maxalto chairs from B&B Italia, the lighting fixture hanging above the dining set can grab anyone's attention in an instant. It's the 2097 Chandelier designed by Gino Sarfatti for Flos, a well-known lighting brand.
9. The resort-like bedroom is perfect for deep slumbers and complete relaxation.
Who wouldn't love this bedroom with huge windows and a beautiful ceiling? Furnished with a big television, a king-size bed, and sophisticated accessories, this private space is definitely meant for rest and forgetting about the stress of the day.
10. The home has guest bedrooms that anyone would love to stay in.
Willie's home features three guest bedrooms that only get occupied when he's expecting relatives from abroad. Even if unused most of the time, these spaces are kept spic-and-span—as seen in the shiny floors and crisp sheets. These rooms also have generous windows—big enough to let sunlight in and afford the occupants a view of the outdoors.
