She was later paired with Alden Richards and their love team went viral on different media platforms. The two have a huge fanbase resulting in their sold-out concert at the Philippine Arena in 2015.

However, there have been speculations that the Dubsmash Queen is not really seeing Alden, but another actor, Sef Cadayona. The two have been linked with each other and there were even rumors that they secretly meet behind the camera.

Of course, some avid fans reacted negatively as they only want their idols to end up together. Both Sef and Maine received a lot of hate and criticism especially on social media.

The two have spoken about the issue and stressed that they were friends and there is nothing going on between them. Unfortunately, some people do not believe them and still think they are hiding something between them.

A netizen bashed Mendoza on Instagram. The user was claiming that Maine was in a relationship with Cadayona.

In a surprising twist, the cool-headed Maine did not remain silent and responded to the hater. Afterwards, the celebrity blocked the basher.

A few months ago, Sef already addressed this issue. At the time, he thought it wasn’t fair that he was getting hate from the rumors.

“Whatever you think of us na sobra sa paka malisyoso is not true. Come on. Again, wala akong sinabi na ganyan,” he wrote on Twitter.

He wrote another status saying: “Just to answer it, HINDI PO KAMI NAGKIKITA. Sa kahit na ano pa. Kasi walang ganyan na nangyayari.”
