PINASILIP NI JOEY DE LEON ANG KANYANG BAHAY AT HINDI KAYO MANINIWALA KUNG ANO ANG NASA LOOB NITO!

Joey de Leon is known for his humorous antics, being in the local entertainment business since the ‘70s. But little do people know that the veteran comedian and TV host has a sophisticated and artistic side.

Joey revealed, in an interview with Real Living, that he was fond of drawing during his younger years. He even took up architecture at the University of the East, then at the National University. His passion for art can be proven by his collection of paintings created by notable Filipino artists. His favorite is the National Artist Ang Kiukok.

The “Eat Bulaga!” host has a classical themed home in Pasig which serves as a backdrop for his painting collection. Joey’s deep affinity for art started during the ‘80s. Up until today, he paints, sketches, and draws. His works include clowns which relate to his career as a comedian.

In the living room, a white sofa contradicts the vibrant paintings behind. Some of the artworks were Joey’s himself which he helmed in in the 1980s. The comedian lives by these mantras: “Work hard. Travel. Have fun.”

The paintings of clowns found on the wall were made by National Artist Ang Kiukok. Joey’s own paintings of clowns were located on the nearby wall. Ang Kiukok is notable for his “figurative expressionism” and a few violent auras. He passed away in 2005.

Joey’s wood-paneled dining space was filled with other paintings of Ang Kiukok. On top of the table is a ceramic plate by BenCab, another National Artist.

The comedian’s house wouldn’t be complete without a pool. Pillars were positioned at the corner of it. The area was also covered with greens for a more resort-like ambiance.
