The Project Malasakit is journalist Kara David’s scholarship program aimed to “bridge the gap between Filipinos who want to help and Filipino children who need to be helped.”

According to their official website:

“Project Malasakit is a scholarship project founded by broadcast journalist Kara Patria David in 2002. Despite the growing cynicism in the country, Project Malasakit believes that Filipinos are naturally compassionate. We just need a credible, concrete vehicle to channel our ‘malasakit’.”

Currently, it has seventeen scholars under its program while there are four graduates who have successfully finished their studies. They are Kristine, Christelle, Jeza Marie, Symone, and Ronner.

Now, in a post made by the official Facebook page of Project Malasakit, another one of their scholars will pursue an admiring endeavor. An excerpt of the post reads:

“So excited for our Project Malasakit scholar Joselito Caasi Padilla who will now be joining the cadetship program of Crystal Shipping Inc. Salamat sir Aly for giving Joselito a chance to fulfill his dreams of becoming a seafarer.” As of this writing, the post has gained 2,500 likes, 190 shares, and around 84 comments. Lots of netizens expressed their support to Padilla in the comments section and hugely admired Kara David for her efforts in the scholarship program.

On April 2017, Philippine Entertainment Portal reported that Padilla has finished his tertiary studies with a degree in Bachelor of Science major in Marine Transport at the PIMSAT Colleges.

According to the report, Padilla shared the post Project Malasakit uploaded on their Facebook. The source quoted Padilla saying through social media:

“napakabilis lumipas ng panahon 10 years na agad ang nakalipas.. thank you mam Kara Patria Constantino David sa 10 years na pagtulong po ninyo sa akin. salamat po sa suporta,kng nd po dahil sa inyo nd ko po mararating ang ganito ngayon.”
